The Scottish Hawking Club was first formed in 1988 with around 70 people turning up to the inaugural meeting at the Isle of Skye Hotel in Perth.  John White (then of Walkerburn) chaired this meeting.   A steering committee was formed with John given  the task of setting out the club's aims and constitution. The club's first Chairman was Martin Connelly, with club secretary Brian Morris and treasurer Jim Coyle.

Since this first meeting the club has gone from strenght to strength with around 160 members from all over the UK.
